Wind the Bobbin Up Nursery Rhyme with Actions🧵

Big hello everyone and welcome to Song Spotlight. This is a weekly spotlight on original and traditional songs that encourage important movements and pre language and language skills in the formative years. 👶

Wind the Bobbin Up is an English language children’s nursery rhyme and singing game. Originating in England, it is a super old rhyme that incorporates non locomotor movements such as rolling, jumping, pulling and crossing the midline all to a super fun and consistent 4/4 dance beat.

I have incorporated crossing the midline because it’s hugely important for children to do. Crossing the midline promotes coordination and communication of the left and right hemispheres of the brain which is a vital skill for learning to tie shoelaces, cutting paper, eating, drawing… And later letter writing. The lyrics are below as well as my YouTube Video with the moves. If you prefer to listen on Spotify I have including in my music and movement playlist. Enjoy♥

Verse 1

Wind the bobbin up x 2

Pull, pull, clap, clap, clap

Wind it back again, x 2

Pull, pull, clap, clap, clap

Point to the ceiling, point to the floor

Point to the window, point to the door

Clap your hands together, 123

Put your hands upon your knees

Whoah…

Repeat x 2 to finish…
